Description

The Insitec Spray uses laser diffraction technology to measure droplets and dry particles from 0.1 µm to 2500µm. Capable of measuring even highly concentrated sprays and aerosols, Insitec Spray delivers real-time monitoring and control, 24/7.

This particle size analyzers deliver fully automated, in situ, real-time particle size measurement for sprays and aerosols. They are used to monitor conditions in wind tunnels and atmospheric chambers, to characterize domestic aerosols and personal care products, and to monitor batch and continuous processes such as spray drying.

Insitec Spray Features:

  • Base model hardware manufactured to GAMP5 standards and compatible with CIP/SIP requirements to meet specific manufacturing specifications. Easy-to-use software and fully automated operation to minimize training requirements and release operator time. Integration with existing control platforms to simplify development of automated control protocols. High reliability of >95% with little downtime, minimal maintenance and maximum ROI.
  • Flexible configuration simplifies installation on the process with options for:
  • Fully customized configuration.
  • Powder streams.
  • Pharmaceutical processes.

Laser-Diffraction Particle Sizing Pays Dividends for Wet-Process Monitoring

Laser diffraction is a proven technology for wet particle sizing. This case study describes the use of real-time particle size measurements for emulsification-process monitoring. Timely process analysis makes it possible to find, set and control operating conditions at the pilot or for commercial-scale use. In research and development this translates directly into greater experimental productivity; in production it results in increased throughput, rapid product changeover, less waste and lower energy use. Typically these gains in efficiency rapidly pay back the cost of the analyser.

White PapersMaterials

The Enduring Appeal of Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analysis

This white paper considers the need to measure particle size and why laser diffraction is so often the method of choice. Laser diffraction presents a robust solution for particle size measurement across a wide variety of applications, and in many industrial sectors it is now the technique of choice. Recently laser diffraction analyzers have become more flexible, easier to use, and highly automated.

Reviewing a Decade of Online Particle Sizing

Zementwerk Berlin GmbH & Co KG has been using Insitec on-line laser diffraction particle sizing (Malvern Instruments) systems to optimize cement production for more than a decade. This collaborative article reviews the company’s experience of real-time particle sizing, examining the implementation of closed loop control and the economic benefits that advanced control strategies have delivered. These include an increase in plant throughput of 2%. The use of on-line analysis in the production of ‘environmentally friendly’ slag cements is a particular focus.
