Easy setup and straightforward to operate. Great technology in that it keeps your samples at low temps during sonication/homogenization of tissues and is high efficiency. Process is contained within each tube so there's no risk of cross-contamination.

Excellent instrument for DNA shearing from tissue. Had attempted using a sonicator which destroyed my DNA and protein. The Bioruptor consistently sheared my DNA to an appropriate size and did not disrupt the protein.

Diagenode’s Bioruptor® Plus uses a gentle method of sonication to retain the integrity of DNA and/or biological complexes, including chromatin, protein-protein binding, protein-DNA complexes and other biochemical and biological assay systems. The Bioruptor® Sonication System uses a sonication bath to generate indirect sonication waves, which emanate from an ultrasound element below the water tank. Because the system is gentler than other sonicators, the Bioruptor® produces better and more consistent results than with harsher sonication methods. Up to 12 closed tubes can be sonicated in parallel and the continuous rotation of tubes allows even distribution of the energy for efficient sonication. The Bioruptor® enables automation of sonication, guaranteeing higher reproducibility of results.

Evaluation of Bioruptor in Shotgun Library Preparation for Massively Parallel Sequencing on Illumina Genome Analyzer II

The Illumina Genome Analyzer II (GA-II) performs massively parallel short-read DNA sequencing, with the potential to generate up to 10 gigabases in a single run. The technology provides researchers with a significantly cheaper alternative to conventional sequencing by capillary electrophoresis. Chromatin Preparation From Tissues for Chromatin Immunoprecipitation Using Diagenode’s Chromatin Shearing Optimization Kit - Low SDS and Bioruptor®

This application note describes the chromatin preparation from fresh or frozen tissues. The isolated chromatin can be used for chromatin immunoprecipitation assays using Diagenode’s iDeal ChIP-seq kit (C01010051). The following protocol is optimized for 30-40 mg of tissue allowing up to 18 ChIP samples (1.5-2 mg of tissue per sample). However, the exact amount of tissue needed for ChIP may vary depending on protein abundance, antibody affinity etc. and should be determined for each tissue type.

Bacterial Cell Disruption Using Bioruptor® Plus

Disruption of bacterial cells is required for releasing biological molecules from within the cells for various biological applications. Ultrasound technology has been widely used for such cell lysis applications. Ultrasonic disruption is based on cavitation, the creation of cavities in cell suspension. These cavities or small bubbles of dissolved gases or vapors arise from the alteration of pressure in liquids. The bubbles are capable of resonance vibration and produce vigorous eddying or microstreaming leading to mechanical stress that effectively lyses cells. Diagenode’s Bioruptor® sonication device uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology to disrupt cells for biological, chemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications. The Bioruptor® causes no contamination between samples, gentle processing and has a multiplexing capability.
