Application Area:

Filtration

Good efficient filtration outputs and performance that is consistent and reliable.

Review Date: 11 Jul 2019 | Sartorius Group

For clarification and sterilization of liquids, filtration is the optimal method. It removes all microorganisms and particles reliably, without any effects on the ingredients, due to adsorption or decomposition. Minisart® filters, made of MBS housing, provide high flow rates and the lowest adsorption characteristics. The MBS housing is color-coded for an easy pore size identification.

Improving your beverage quality control process

Quality control is a crucial aspect of the beverage testing industry – not just in terms of meeting expectations but also to ensure a product is safe for consumption. In this case study, Tricia Vail, Regional Business Manager for Microbiology and Filtration at Sartorius, explains challenges and solutions to improve the quality in beverage quality control processes.

Does syringe filtration impact recovery of cannabinoids prior to potency testing

The objective of this study was to determine if using syringe filters (Sartorius Minisart® RC, SRP, NY and NY Plus, all 0.2µm) either released interfering compounds or retained cannabinoids during sample preparation for HPLC testing. A blank matrix specimen of homogenized nettle leaf (Urtica dioica) was used for calibration and control and analyzed without cannabinoid for leachables. In addition, a true cannabis specimen was filtered using each of the four different filter types and analyzed for recovery of cannabinoids by HPLC.

Analysis of aqueous mobile phase sample preparation and filtration steps in cannabis analytical testing

This poster demonstrate that aqueous mobile phase preparations from purchased lab grade bottled water yielded comparable results to in-house prepared water (Sartorius Arium purified water Type 1 and Type 3) and that using filters (Sartorius Minisart® RC, SRP, NY & NY Plus, all 0.2 µm) yielded comparable results to unfiltered specimens under the same mobile phase conditions.
