Results are accurate and precise. Issue is after sales service & costly cosumables.

Average Rating 3.0

Application Area:

Analysis of moisture in various dairy products

The equipment is working satisfactorily for dairy products and the results obtained are accurate when compared to standard reference methods and also reproducible when analysed at different intervals. However, the main issue is related to after sales service which is very poor and also high price of consumables which are used during analysis of liquid samples like milk.

Problem with taring scale.

Average Rating 3.0

Application Area:

Quality control laboratory

The instrument behaved very well in the first 6 months of use, but as a result of this, we had a problem where it was impossible to tare the scale and thus impossible to analyze. We contacted Mettler-Toledo and they did a reinstallation of the system and after that the device worked again. Two more months passed, and the problem returned, so it was not solved definitively. We still use the device, but we have difficulties in taring. When the problem reappears we clean it, turn it off and restart it until we can use it again.

A practical guide to drying oven versus halogen moisture analyzer

Moisture affects the quality, shelf-life and usability of many products, including pharmaceutical substances, plastics and foodstuffs. Therefore, monitoring and determination of the moisture content in samples is an important application. Typically, loss on drying (LOD) using a drying oven is used as reference method, but this can be slow with many manual steps. Faster determination of moisture content can be achieved with new methods, such halogen moisture analyzers (HMA), which are easy to use and give a direct result in a fraction of the time. The challenge has been how to validate the HMA method and prove that the results are comparable with the drying oven method.

Explore a detailed comparison between the drying oven and halogen moisture analyzer (HMA) methods for moisture content determination. With practical guides, real-world examples, and expert insights, this resource is essential for optimizing moisture analysis in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food production.

Drying Oven vs. Halogen Moisture Analyzer

This white paper guides the analyst through the process of choosing between oven drying and fast halogen moisture analysis. It explains the key decision criteria surrounding the choice of method and provides practical guidance on how to demonstrate that the two different methods (drying oven and halogen moisture analyzer) for establishing the moisture content of a sample deliver comparable results. In addition, two alternative and acceptable comparison approaches are outlined here: the first approach is based on specific process requirements (tolerances), and the second approach is based on statistical analysis of the data obtained.
