This was purchased during the height of COVID in order to be able to perform in-house testing. We had one machine and it was a workhorse. Unfortunately, it did not last long and had to be replaced at least twice within the first year. The system for returning and getting information in Abbotts system was not effective and they did not know what machine we had (SN) and what had been sent back. They started billing us for service contracts on meters that did not belong to us. I was told that it was because the sales reps did not enter information correctly. To this day I am receiving invoices for 9 machines that I do not own. I fear that not paying these may cause issues for the true owners of this equipment.

The cobas® liat analyzer is an automated nucleic acid test instrument, that when used together with cobas® liat assay tubes to perform in vitro diagnostic tests, is referred to as the cobas® liat system. In conjunction with a cobas® liat assay tube, the instrument performs reagent preparation, target enrichment, inhibitor removal, nucleic acid extraction, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification, real-time detection, and result interpretation to automate the detection or quantification of nucleic acid targets in a biological sample.
