Focused on Biomarker Discovery, Translation and Clinical Research, Waters offers technologies and solutions to accelerate the discovery and translation of cancer biomarkers. Liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is now recognized by leading research professionals as an optimal analytical technique for biomarker research methods.

Waters Corporation, in booth #2512, will highlight their “Meet the Expert” program on April 18-19 where visitors can talk one to one with 3 experts. Details on the scheduled times for these experts can be found on www.waters.com/aacr.

 • Molecular Profiling - Dr. Arash Zarrine-Afsar, Ph.D. from Techna Institute for the Advancement of Technology for Health, part of the University Health Network at the University of Toronto will be talking with visitors about Rapid Characterization of Cancer by Molecular Profiling
 • Biomarker Discovery and Quantification - Dr. Maureen Kane, the Executive Director of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Mass Spectrometry Center, and also a Waters Centers of Innovation partner, will be discussing strategies and technologies for untargeted and targeted assays in biomarker discovery and quantification.
 • Characterizing ADC’s - Dr. John Gebler, a Director of Biopharma Business Development, at Waters Corporation will be meeting with visitors to discuss solving the challenges of characterizing antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).

Waters provides a diverse portfolio of analytical systems for the identification and measurement of a variety of analytes.

Mass SpectrometryMass spectrometry (MS) is a powerful analytical technique used to identify and quantify molecules based on the mass-to-charge ratio of gas-phase ions. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place. Techniques used include HPLC, chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, immunochemical, electrophoresis, turbidometric / spectrophotometric assay, MRI and ISE analysis. Tests are often carried out on plasma or serum but urine (urinalysis) and fecal specimens are also processed.Molecular BiologyMolecular biology is the branch of biology that focuses on the molecular mechanisms that underlie cellular functions. It involves studying DNA, RNA, and proteins to understand gene expression, replication, and regulation. Molecular biology is fundamental to biotechnology, medicine, and genetic research. The most well known example of a biopharmaceutical product, and the first to be approved for therapeutic use, was recombinant human insulin.Cancer ResearchCancer research aims to understand the mechanisms of cancer development and progression to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. From molecular biology to clinical trials, research spans a wide range of disciplines, including immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and drug discovery. It provides a platform for scientists, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders to share knowledge and collaborate in the fight against cancer.AACR2016Biomarker DiscoveryClinical biomarkers refer to substances related to known medical conditions that can be accurately measured in vitro. Biomarkers can be used to diagnose presence of a disease and indicate disease severity. The discovery of new biomarkers is incredibly valuable in the field of diagnostics.
