Product news

Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, announces the availability of Thermo Scientific Pierce Streptavidin Magnetic Beads to streamline the isolation and purification of biotinylated biomolecules, without columns or centrifugation. The iron oxide, superparamagnetic particles offer higher binding capacity and lower nonspecific binding compared to other commercially available magnetic beads.

The Pierce® Streptavidin Magnetic Beads are validated and optimized for use with high throughput magnetic instrumentation, such as the Thermo Scientific KingFisher 96 and KingFisher Flex Instruments. The particles also perform well in manual purification procedures when using an appropriate magnetic stand.

The Pierce Streptavidin Magnetic Beads are available in 1 ml and 5 ml package sizes. The beads are also available in bulk quantities for manufacturing applications. The particles can be stored refrigerated for one year.

ProteomicsProteomics is the systemic bioinformatics study of proteins and amino acids, including their structure, size, function and identification. Tools used in proteomics include chromatography, blotting and gels, protein arrays, mass spectrometry and ELISA and associated analysis software. Analyzers and proteomic systems should be sensitive, high resolution, fast and may be automated for high-throughput.High-Throughput ScreeningHigh-throughput screening (HTS) is an automated drug discovery technique for identification of active compounds against a compound library. Use HTS readers and integrated assay preparation / analysis workstations to screen your compounds. Identify active compounds against various HTS libraries, including membranes, proteins and peptides and HTS cell lines. The purification process typically involves subcellular or membrane protein extraction with cell lysis kits, separation of proteins from cell debris by filtration or spin columns, and the isolation of proteins of interest from other proteins and impurities with affinity purification (including fusion protein tags and antibody binding proteins A, G and L), immunoprecipitation or chromatographic methods, such as ion exchange, size exclusion and immobilized metal affinity chromatography. All purification methods come in multiple formats for your laboratory needs, including agarose or magnetic beads, resins, columns and filter plates.
