The cutting-edge FluidFM BOT system from Cytosurge opens the door to single-cell experiments that have not been possible with conventional methods. Built around the patented FluidFM hollow probe technology, the highly automated system allows cell manipulation at the single-cell level, and this in a non-destructive and cell-context preserving manner.

FluidFM nano-injection:
Inject a vast variety of compounds such as DNA, RNA and plasmids directly into nuclei or cytoplasms of adherent cells. This is done in a ”gentle”, less stressful manner than with most other delivery methods, resulting in cell viability of ~95%. In addition, it is possible to measure the injected femtoliter volumes (fL) and inject 100 to 300 cells/hour depending on the cell types.

FluidFM nano-extraction:
Extract the content of individual cells directly in their native environment while preserving the cellular context and without affecting cell viability. The procedure is non-destructive and therefore makes it possible to perform cell biopsies from the same single cell over different time points.

FluidFM cell isolation:
Isolate single adherent or suspended cells by placing the selected cell in a new recipient. Combined with FluidFM nano-injection, FluidFM cell isolation is a powerful tool for scientists interested in fast and efficient production of newly transfected monoclonal cell lines.

FluidFM nano-printing:
Print spots, high-density arrays or complex patterns with many types of biological particles with nanometer precision, useful for example in biosensing to create ad-hoc protein or DNA arrays.
The above described applications using the FluidFM BOT system can be combined with each other or with other technologies, paving the way for the design of new experimental and scientific approaches. Cell line development is one of such examples, where FluidFM nano-injection and FluidFM cell isolation used together reinvent a traditionally costly and complex workflow.
