Franz Walt, President, Laboratory DiagnosticsSiemens Healthcare Diagnostics introduced the latest laboratory automation innovations at AACC 2015

Franz Waltz, President, Laboratory Diagnostics, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, introduced state-of-the-art automation systems available to clinical laboratories at AACC 2015. Siemens provides some of the largest and most complex automation systems on the market. Automation is one of the most important innovations for the clinical laboratory, as the equipment can work in harmony with scientists to enable laboratories to reach their clinical and workflow goals.

AptioAutomation is a unified solution, developed expressly for the changing workload and expanding needs of today’s clinical laboratory. As Franz Walt explains, Aptio Automation is highly flexible: "It can connect up to 45 different instruments, and it is multi-disciplinary. Clinical chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, hemostasis - nobody else has such a multidisciplinary offering.” The system provides unlimited potential for lab optimization by combining peak performance, adaptability and intelligent technology with Siemens' signature automation workflow expertise.

Other innovations on display included software innovations such as CentraLink™ Data Management System and syngo Lab Inventory Manager. CentraLink™ Data Management System is a proven data management solution with an optional hematology unit available to empower labs to efficiently deliver timely, accurate results. syngo is a cloud-based inventory management system. This innovation enables real-time, automated inventory management across multiple laboratories for streamlined workflow.

Franz Waltz also introduced the latest ADVIA Chemistry XPT System and the ADVIA Centaur XPT Immunoassay System described as “out-of-the-box, automation ready – no extra robotics, no work-around needed.” These biochemistry analyzers offer an easy-to-use system that maintains continuous operation and delivers powerful productivity for improved efficiency. The ADVIA Centaur XPT Immunoassay System was designed with one of the most advanced software packages on the market, while the ADVIA Centaur XPT System is among the highest-throughput systems available.
