Nexis GC-2060 gas chromatograph

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments has introduced the Nexis GC-2060 gas chromatograph, the latest evolution of Shimadzu’s flagship GC platform. Designed to maximize uptime, streamline workflows and improve laboratory efficiency, the Nexis GC-2060 delivers enhanced support for both routine and evolving analyses.

The Nexis GC-2060 has been developed for research and development and quality control analyses across a wide range of applications, including energy, chemicals, food, environmental testing and pharmaceuticals. It builds on that legacy of innovation to offer a range of laboratory workflow support functions tailored to today’s operational and productivity needs.

New features of the Nexis GC-2060 include:

  • Flame ionization detector (FID) with sensitivity enhanced by ~20% over previous models and a minimum detection limit of 1.0 pgC/sec. In addition, it is the world’s first multimode FID, equipped with Hy/Ox and Hy/Air modes for the flexible selection of detector gases.
  • Thermal conductivity detector (TCD) with 25% improved detection limit, with a minimum detectable quantity of 300 pg/mL. This redesigned TCD uses single-filament technology to significantly reduce start-up time. This TCD also stabilizes quickly and delivers accurate, repeatable results for a variety of gas and inorganic analyses.
  • Multimode injection (MMI) unit, featuring five distinct injection modes for versatility, that allows a single GC to accommodate a wide range of analytical needs. The Nexis GC-2060 MMI supports split/splitless; programmable temperature vaporization (PTV); direct injection; large-volume injection (LVI); and thermal desorption/extraction injections in a single module.
  • Automatic eco-operation function that learns analytical patterns from operating history and performs optimal eco-friendly operation. The system delivers maximum performance during analysis and automatically switches to energy-saving (eco idling) mode during standby. In addition, the software displays the amount of gas and power savings, CO2 emissions reductions and cost savings.
  • Enhanced expandability that maintains the same instrument footprint as previous models while increasing the number of pre-treatment units, sample injection ports and detectors that operators can install. This enables highly flexible system configurations tailored to diverse needs, such as parallel operation with dual-line analysis using the same setup, multi-application coverage with a single GC and high-speed analysis.

Multiple design functions, including: one-touch injection unit access; tool-free column installation; automated start-up, shutdown and column conditioning; and simplify operation for users of all skill levels. Easy maintenance with on-demand support and troubleshooting, plus an intuitive software interface, help to maximize up time.
