Shimadzu Scientific Instruments has introduced the Nexera ion chromatograph (IC), a compact, fully automated system designed to streamline water quality testing while delivering accurate, reliable results for users of all experience levels.

Engineered for both routine and regulated samples, the Nexera IC combines advanced automation, intuitive software and a space-saving design to reduce manual effort and maintain consistent analytical performance.

Compact, efficient design

With a footprint under 50 cm tall and 52 cm wide, the Nexera IC maximizes laboratory space without compromising analytical capability. Essential functions are integrated into a single-analysis system, while an optional dual injection configuration enables simultaneous anion and cation analysis, expanding throughput and versatility for drinking water and environmental testing. Front-accessible components and easy eluent access simplify daily operation and maintenance.

Automated sample handling for reliable results

Pre-programed sample preparation ensures dilution and eluent mixing occur automatically prior to injection, eliminating variability and supporting consistent analysis.

A total-volume injection system with software-controlled volume adjustment ensures the entire aspirated sample is delivered, maximizing accuracy and eliminating sample waste. Standard injection volumes range from 0.1 to 200 µL, with volumes up to 7.5 mL available as an option.

For added flexibility, a classic loop injection mode is available through an optional accessory. High-throughput laboratories benefit from autosampler capacity for up to 162 x 1.5 mL vials, enabling efficient large-batch analysis.

Software-driven consistency and compliance

Shimadzu’s new IC Solution software allows laboratory managers to preconfigure methods and workflows, enabling users to run routine analyses using standardized templates. This approach supports consistent execution of regulatory and compliance testing, regardless of operator experience.

IC Support software provides comprehensive system oversight, including eluent monitoring, column tracking, consumables usage records, interactive troubleshooting, maintenance guidance, and data collection for validation support.
