Sherwood Scientific Ltd will exhibit the CHROMA Model 260uv Programmable Colorimeter for the first time at MEDICA 2013 (20 - 23 November 2013, Düsseldorf Fairgrounds, Germany). The instrument allows users to conduct enzyme-based tests in challenging and remote locations without access to a laboratory. Also on display at MEDICA will be Sherwood Scientific’s magnetic susceptibility balance and the model 926S Chloride analyzer, both valuable and established tools in clinical applications.

The Model 260uv Programmable Colorimeter’s ability to operate in the near UV region makes it ideal for enzyme-based clinical diagnostic tests. Until recently, it has been difficult to run these tests on cost-efficient instruments while in the field. The 260uv Colorimeter is rugged and portable, and can run using a variety of power sources, including a 12V car battery, making it a prime solution for use in field hospitals and remote locations. In addition, the system can store up to 100 methods, allowing the use of most commercially available test kits and user-generated reagents, further increasing the convenience of the whole system.

Sherwood Scientific will also showcase its unique benchtop magnetic susceptibility balance at MEDICA. This well-established product is suited for use when analyzing coated iron contrast agents, such as those used in magnetic resonance imaging, and ensuring their compliance in line with pharmacopoeia monographs. Visitors to the stand will also have the opportunity to explore the use of the model 926S Chloride Analyzer, highly regarded in the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis for more than 15 years.

“We are very much looking forward to attending MEDICA 2013,” said Jon Copsey, Marketing Manager at Sherwood Scientific Ltd. “This will be Sherwood Scientific’s first time exhibiting at the show, and we are excited to demonstrate how our systems can benefit users in clinical areas. We know that working in this sector can produce some unique challenges, and are confident that visitors to the stand will come away with valuable solutions.”

Visitors to MEDICA 2013 can find Sherwood Scientific at Hall 01/E07. For more information on the entire range, follow the company website link below or click on the ‘request information’ tab below.

HematologyIn Haematology / Hematology, complete blood cell counts (or full blood counts) are obtained using automated blood count analyzers to enumerate blood cell types.  Hematology also encompasses haemostasis and coagulation, thrombophilia and hemophilia, plasma viscosity and ESR analysis, hemoglobinopathies, cell morphology and haematinic measurement.ImmunologyImmunological techniques measure and characterize immune responses. Immunology kits and analysis systems often use techniques such as ELISA, radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunodiffusion assays, Immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Immunologists use equipment such as flow Cytometers, plate readers, plate washers and fluorescent microscopes.Point-of-CarePoint-of-Care Testing (POCT) or Near Patient Testing (NPT) products are available for urine, blood and other clinical chemistry analyses. POCT includes: blood glucose testing, blood gas and electrolytes analysis, rapid coagulation testing (PT / INR), rapid cardiac markers diagnostics, drugs of abuse screening, urine strips testing, pregnancy testing, fecal occult blood analysis, food pathogens screening, hemoglobin diagnostics, infectious disease testing and cholesterol screening.Clinical ChemistryBiochemistry (or clinical chemistry) involves the analysis of bodily fluids using chemical tests. Techniques used include HPLC, chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, immunochemical, electrophoresis, turbidometric / spectrophotometric assay, MRI and ISE analysis. Tests are often carried out on plasma or serum but urine (urinalysis) and fecal specimens are also processed.Point of Care SolutionsPoint of care solutions provide medical diagnostics and treatments at or near the site of patient care.
