PerkinElmer, Inc. today announced that OneSource®, a component of the Analytical Sciences and Laboratory Services business, has entered into an agreement with global laboratory supply and distribution company VWR International, LLC, to develop a joint service offering.

The combined solution provides multi-vendor maintenance and qualification service across a broad spectrum of laboratory equipment from pipettes and pH meters, serviced by VWR, to complex multi-component analytical instrumentation, such as Liquid Chromatography/tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS), serviced by OneSource. This approach enables customers to access the expertise of both companies while enjoying the convenience and cost-effectiveness of a consolidated service contract.

“We’re passionate about creating the most comprehensive service solution possible for our customers. Our goal is to reduce customers’ service and maintenance costs while increasing scientific productivity. We continue to make investments to further this goal and to help our customers achieve their pressing scientific, operational and financial objectives,” said Dusty Tenney, president of Analytical Sciences & Laboratory Services, PerkinElmer. He added, “Through this agreement with VWR, we have created a service solution that addresses a wide range of laboratory equipment for optimum cost-savings, service model simplification and lab productivity.”

Matt Malenfant, VWR SVP and president, North American Lab Business, adds: "The combined service solution that VWR and PerkinElmer now offer represents a tremendous advantage for our customers. They can now receive high quality service from service engineers experienced in their respective areas through one contract and can benefit from the associated efficiency and cost savings.”

PerkinElmer OneSource provides an integrated suite of laboratory services for high-end equipment and instrumentation, including corrective and preventative maintenance, qualification, calibration, relocation and asset disposition. Encompassing the major equipment manufacturers and technologies, OneSource has over 300,000 analytical and life science laboratory assets under contract worldwide.

VWR has over 6,500 associates around the world working to streamline the way researchers across North America, Europe and Asia stock and maintain their labs. The VWR services team includes highly trained field and lab technicians with expertise in a broad range of corrective and preventive maintenance, calibration, validation, asset management and compliance services for general laboratory equipment.

The agreement follows an earlier announcement by PerkinElmer and VWR in August this year, where PerkinElmer spectroscopy and chromatography consumables and minor accessories would be made available through VWR.

LC-MSLC-MS (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry) systems and equipment are used for separation and quantitative analysis of complex mixtures, combining liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Quantify proteins, contaminants, pesticides or screen for drug metabolites with a high level of sensitivity. LC-MS systems and equipment include reverse phase, normal phase and specialized columns integrated with various MS detectors such as time-of-flight (TOF), quadrupole, orbitrap or ion trap mass analyzers. LC-MS/MS instruments equipped with a qTOF or triple quadrupole analyzer give greater sensitivity and resolving power to your analysis. It provides detailed information about the structure, composition, and properties of compounds and is widely used across fields such as environmental monitoring, materials science, drug discovery and development, food and beverage testing, and wider chemical research. Key MS techniques include tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LS-MS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP-MS). Choosing from these wide range of techniques and technologies can be a daunting task, so keep up to date with scientific applications, performance expectations, and customer reviews here all in one place. Visit our product directory to receive quotes direct from the manufacturer. pH Meters and ElectrodesIon and pH meters are electrochemical equipment used to measure the pH (acidity or alkalinity) or specific ion concentration of a solution. Other meters can also measure the conductivity or dissolved oxygen content of a solution. pH meters, specific ion meters, conductivity meters and dissolved oxygen meters can come as benchtop or portable equipment. A meter’s electrodes can be replaced with easy to clean electrodes or electrodes for difficult media. pH, ion and conductivity meters are typically used in life science research, pharmaceutical testing, food and beverage, environmental and water analysis. Explore a range of manual and electronic pipettes, including single and multichannel, serological and volumetric pipettes, as well as a range of pipette tips. Bottle-top dispensers are also available for simple and fast solvent dispensing. Features of ph and ion meters to consider include temperature compensation, auto-calibration, adjustable resolution, measurable range and accuracy. Meters can be handheld, portable, benchtop and modular.
