GE Healthcare announces the launch of two new high performance columns, MBPTrap™and StrepTrap™.

MBPTrap HP provides convenient affinity purification of recombinant proteins tagged with maltose binding protein (MBP). These columns are prepacked with Dextrin Sepharose High Performance. This robust and stable Sepharose based medium enables elution of target protein in narrow peaks, which minimizes the need for further concentration steps.

StrepTrap HP is supplied ready to use for convenient purification of Strep(II)-tagged recombinant proteins by affinity chromatography. These columns are prepacked with StrepTactin™ Sepharose™ High Performance. The specially engineered coupling of streptavidin to StrepTactin ensures optimized binding properties. This robust and stable Sepharose based medium results in high resolution, sharp concentrated peaks, and reproducible purifications.

Benefits of MBPTrap:

  • High purity in one step
  • Highly pure protein elutes in narrow peaks
  • Mild elution preserves the activity of the target protein
  • Tolerates cleaning with sodium hydroxide
  • Convenient usage with a syringe, peristaltic pump, or chromatography system

Benefits of StrepTrap:

  • High purity in one step
  • Sharp, highly concentrated peaks
  • Mild elution preserves the activity of the target protein
  • Compatible with a wide range of reducing agents, detergents, denaturants, and other additives
  • Convenient use with a syringe, peristaltic pump, or chromatography system

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns. Tools used in proteomics include chromatography, blotting and gels, protein arrays, mass spectrometry and ELISA and associated analysis software. Analyzers and proteomic systems should be sensitive, high resolution, fast and may be automated for high-throughput.Protein PurificationProtein purification is a vital step in drug discovery, therapeutics, biotech and life science research. The purification process typically involves subcellular or membrane protein extraction with cell lysis kits, separation of proteins from cell debris by filtration or spin columns, and the isolation of proteins of interest from other proteins and impurities with affinity purification (including fusion protein tags and antibody binding proteins A, G and L), immunoprecipitation or chromatographic methods, such as ion exchange, size exclusion and immobilized metal affinity chromatography. All purification methods come in multiple formats for your laboratory needs, including agarose or magnetic beads, resins, columns and filter plates.
