Millipore Announces Stem Cell Tested Initiative

Product news

Millipore Corporation a Life Science leader providing technologies, tools and services for the bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry, today announced its initiative to provide “Stem Cell Tested” products. Many of Millipore’s filter products will be validated for use on stem cells. Millipore’s Stericup with Express PLUS membrane is the first available under this initiative. After filtering media through a Stericup with Express PLUS membrane, stem cells are passaged five times and tested for pluripotency with no negative effect.

Stericup filter cups combine a filter unit with a receiver flask and cap for processing and storage. Supplied sterile and ready-to-use, the Stericup offers fast flow with high throughput and low protein binding ensures key growth factors and proteins are not absorbed. When used in conjunction with ExpressPLUS membranes and media, Stericup offers an optimized and cost effective solution for stem cell culture that eliminates the concern over whether filtering complete media will remove valuable factors or add deleterious components to the growth media.

An asymmetric pore structure in the Express PLUS membrane gives greater throughput than other membranes and it is the 0.22 μm pore size that is now Stem Cell Tested.

Explore a range of filter formats, including filter paper, plates and membranes for your separation needs. While larger particulates may be separated by gravity filtration, smaller particulates may require additional force for timely separation. Microfiltration equipment includes vacuum filters, as well as positive pressure, crossflow and centrifugal filtration devices.
