Product news

UK-based microbiology specialist Lab M will exhibit from the company’s range of dehydrated culture media at Medica 2007 (14-17 November 2007; Düsseldorf, Germany).

Lab M develops and manufactures media for a wide range of applications, most notably in food microbiology, where controlling foodborne infection is a challenge to manufacturers and public health services alike, and for the clinical market. With an expanding distributor network around the world, Medica is an important event for the company.

Lab M is especially well known for its Harlequin™ range of chromogenic media and also for its Fastidious Anaerobe Agar, recognised as a Gold Standard medium for the primary isolation of fastidious anaerobic organisms. This complex medium is capable of growing most clinically significant anaerobes and comparative studies have shown it to be superior to other formulations. Lab M’s anaerobe range also includes Fastidious Anaerobe Broth.

MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments.
