CAMAG’s software "winCATS – Planar Chromatography Manager" has been further improved and now provides professional image evaluation in combination with the CAMAG DigiStore 2 system.

In addition to winCATS option "Comparison Viewer"—for comparison of tracks from individual samples or groups of samples from different TLC plates directly on the screen—CAMAG extended winCATS with the new "Professional Image Enhancement" option. It features extended IQ-OQ relevant checks for camera positioning, focusing performance, white adjust and flat field corrections for all illumination modes. Clean plate correction, camera color matrix correction and image averaging (up to 64 images) guarantee unsurpassed image quality.

The new option also includes image capturing in sequence over time and signal intensity meter for basic intensity measurements. The winCATS option “Professional Image Enhancement” provides images of highest quality needed for quantitative evaluation.

Thin Layer ChromatographyThin-layer chromatography (TLC), also called planar chromatography, is an inexpensive and simple liquid chromatographic technique used to separate and identify small amounts of compound in a mixture, monitor progress of a reaction or determine purity of substance. TLC plates come in multiple sizes with common adsorbent layers being silica, aluminum oxide or cellulose and high-performance (HP-TLC) plates are also available for increased sensitivity. Other equipment needed includes TLC developing chambers, applicators, TLC sprayers and visualizing devices, such as a viewing cabinet and UV lamp.
