Freeze dryers, sample concentrators & evaporators for all budgets and applications...

25 Feb 2008

Genevac has chosen Analytica 2008 to exhibit its latest innovative products for centrifugal evaporation, sample concentration and freeze drying.

Visitors to Hall B2, Stand 544 will be able to see the latest fast and efficient freeze dryers - the Virtis Advantage Plus and the Benchtop K series.

Featuring the latest advancements in benchtop freeze drying, the Virtis AdVantage Plus is available with up to three fluid cooled shelves which maintain temperature control precision previously available only in pilot / production scale units. Each compact unit is loaded with functions that enable materials to be processed quickly, efficiently, and conveniently. The Benchtop K series brings fast and efficient freeze drying within the budget of almost any laboratory. A wide range of options and accessories allow the Benchtop K series to handle most applications. Ease of use is ensured by one button start-up that activates all operating parameters in the correct sequence.

For biological labs looking for highly affordable, careful and fast DNA sample preparation – Genevac will display the miVac DNA sample concentrator. The compact system offers digital control of temperature and short concentration times, reducing the risk of heat damage to your samples. Unlike centrifugal filters, the miVac DNA concentrates effortlessly and returns 100% of your samples every time, and with no consumable costs. Benchmarked to provide best-of-class performance in all aspects the miVac DNA provides scientists everything they need to safely and swiftly concentrate or dry their samples in a compact easy-to-use package.

Also on display will be the EZ-2 Series II centrifugal evaporator. Similar in size to a rotary evaporator the innovative design of the EZ-2 delivers real operational benefits to life science laboratories. Using the most advanced proven technology in evaporation science, the EZ-2 is able to evaporate solvents in typically half the time of other evaporator designs. Running an EZ-2 Series II evaporator is as simple as 1,2,3. Just load your samples, select maximum safe temperature for samples, select solvent type and hit start. Offering true unattended operation capability an EZ-2 requires no user training, even a beginner can competently use the system within 5 minutes.

Genevac, an SP Industries company, was founded in 1990. Today the company employs around 85 people, with manufacturing, R&D and marketing headquartered in Ipswich, UK. A US subsidiary based in Valley Cottage, (NY) together with a network of sales and service representatives provides informed local sales, service and technical support to customers in North America. Genevac today offers a comprehensive portfolio of evaporators to suit almost any solvent removal application, purchasing budget or productivity requirement.

EZ-2 Series

Genevac

Using the most advanced proven technology in evaporation science, the third generation of the EZ-2 Series has been designed specifically for solvent removal in life science research; be that concentration of samples or complete drying.  The innovative design of the EZ-2 Series presents many advantages for working in parallel within synthesis chemistry, analytical sample preparation and for general-purpose solvent removal needs in life science laboratories. At the heart of the evaporator is a solvent resistant, oil-free vacuum pump, and the high efficiency, defrost-free, SpeedTrap™, which traps all solvents as liquids, even water. Solvents collect in the insulated, plastic coated glass vessel, enabling the user to see the progress of evaporation and determine when the trap should be emptied. The EZ-2 Elite has a special auto-draining collection vessel fitted to the SpeedTrap, which uses the very powerful Scroll pump. The Elite can therefore evaporate the highest boiling solvents such as DMSO and perform the Genevac LyoSpeed fast lyophilisation method for HPLC fractions. There is a low-cost option available on the Standard, Plus and Elite that allows the routine use of hydrochloric acid and aggressive solvents. By building key elements in Hastelloy®, glass or PTFE, full protection against acid chlorides is achieved. New to the HCl Resistance option is the ability to evaporate concentrated nitric acid. This option must be specified when ordering, as it cannot be retrofitted. All EZ-2 models are resistant to routine use of high concentrations of TFA as standard. An additional option is available to allow safe operation for those wishing to use highly explosive solvents, such as pentane or diethyl ether - the inert gas purge system. This system can also be used to preserve oxygen or moisture sensitive samples under an inert gas blanket until the user returns to the evaporator. The EZ-2 Series can also accommodate a wide selection of sample holders, including round-bottom flasks up to 500ml, tubes up to 160mm long (including Dionex ASE® and Radleys Carousel tubes), custom reaction blocks, and shallow or deep-well microtitre plates. EZ-2 Series Models: The Standard (EZ-2) is suitable for water and volatile solvents The Envi (EZ-2 Envi) is recommended for concentration of volatile solvents The Plus (EZ-2 Plus) is recommended for solvents with boiling points upto 165°C The Elite (EZ-2 Elite) is recommended for solvents with boiling points upto 220°C

miVac Concentrators

Genevac

miVac is a range of centrifugal vacuum concentrators and freeze driers capable of removing water and organic solvents from a variety of sample formats including tubes, microplates, and vials. miVac concentrators come in 2 sizes, the smaller Duo and a larger Quattro. There is a choice of vacuum pump and rotor according to application and sample format.  To speed concentration built-in special runs for working with water and water mixtures improve performance, helping optimise concentration time.  The addition of the revolutionary SpeedTrap condenser to the system will greatly enhance concentration performance.  miVac systems feature unique JetRotors - solid aluminium rotors which speed concentration manifold. An optional pressure control unit provides display of chamber pressure and manual or automatic control of the vacuum level. The miVac SpeedTrap can also be used for freeze drying when configured with a miVac Super vacuum pump, as a combined concentration / freeze drying workstation with a miVac vacuum concentrator or as a stand-alone freeze drier. Applications: Suitable for use with Oligo-synthesis, RNA/DNA prep., peptide prep., sequencing, molecular biology, ADME / toxicology labs, process development, residue analysis, environmental analysis and general academic/life science research.
