Product news

For the first time, at SLAS2016, Lonza will showcase its next-generation Endotoxin Automation Solution using a Tecan® Freedom EVO® robot. (Lonza Booth #1753). Experts will be on hand to demonstrate how the company’s instruments, reagents, and software can be integrated into a robotic platform for an automated workflow solution.

Lonza’s third-generation robotic solution for endotoxin detection

Lonza is proud to announce a new generation of automated endotoxin detection driven by its flagship product, the WinKQCL™ Endotoxin Detection Software. The cornerstone to the success of this new offering is in the software. Lonza has been working on a new feature set to provide flexibility, plus additional features, to further meet the needs of a growing segment of the market interested in automating their endotoxin-testing process. Attendees of the SLAS tradeshow can see Lonza’s robotic solution for endotoxin testing and talk directly to Lonza experts about the innovations in this new WinKQCL™ Software. A few of the highlighted features include:

  • WinKQCL™ Software can generate robotic scripts and adapt to changing sample dilution requirements on the fly
  • Offering a true “walk-away” solution, WinKQCL™ Software can now control every step of the procedure from start to finish.
  • WinKQCL™ Software can import sample test worklists from a sample management system and export the results back out to this same system, preventing transcription errors and saving time over manually entering data

Designed to match the customer’s workflow

Lonza recognizes that the key to success is not just in the product, but in the service and support offered to customers. According to David Herbst, Product Manager for Instruments and Software at Lonza: “Consultation starts with a detailed review of the customer’s current process and providing insight into how it may be improved. This includes identifying potential time savings and reducing manual tasks, such as transcribing data and pipetting samples, to free up valuable time for QC staff to perform other tasks. We understand that each customer is different and we are committed to clearly understanding their unique requirements in order to offer a customized solution to meet each QC laboratory’s specific workflow.”

MicrobiologyMicrobiology is the study of microorganisms including protists, prokaryotes, fungi, and, often, viruses. Microorganisms are a useful research tool as genetic vectors and, in immunology, for antibiotic susceptibility testing, cellular biology and genetics. Microorganisms commonly grow readily in incubators with microbial culture media; this can contain chromogenic supplements to differentiate between cell lines. Estimate your culture’s density of microorganisms with colony counters, or screen and select colonies for desirable clones with automated colony pickers. Additionally, equipment is available to monitor environments for the presence of microbes and identify with microbial identification instruments. Such processes use instruments for assays like cell based assays and ELISA, for sample preparation like shakers, centrifuges and incubators, and for analysis such as sequencing and western blot analyzers. Useful features of robotic instruments include speed, reproducibility, barcode readers, software and automation.Robotic WorkstationsRobotic workstations are automated platforms enabling the user to perform high-throughput, multi-application processes, from sample preparation tasks such as PCR set-up, DNA purification and NGS library preparation, to integrated sample prep and analysis workstations. Automation makes processes consistent, fast, precise and fully walk-away. Typical instrumentation includes blanchers, color sorters, cookers, grinders, and refrigeration. These are used to replicate the processes commonly used in the commercial preparation of food and beverages.AutomationAutomation in laboratories and manufacturing processes enhances efficiency, precision, and scalability by reducing the need for manual intervention. It plays a critical role in improving productivity, minimizing human error, and accelerating workflows in fields like diagnostics, drug development, and industrial testing. Automation technologies include robotic systems, automated liquid handlers, and process control systems that streamline complex tasks and ensure consistent, reproducible results. Quality control is a monitoring procedure or set of procedures that are put in place to ensure that a manufactured product adheres to a defined set of quality criteria. Bacterial DetectionBacterial detection uses methods such as cell culture, microscopy, and biochemical assays to identify harmful or beneficial bacteria based on their morphological and metabolic charactersistics. These techniques support disease diagnostics, food safety, and microbial research.
