Product news

The Bruker CAM division will be out in full force at Pittcon 2013, in Philadelphia, March 17-21. Bruker has delivered a range of truly innovative analytical instruments unmatched in their fields and able to tackle the most challenging applications. At Bruker booth #2935, the double-award winning SCION GC-MS TQ will again be featured, following its Silver Medal awarded by the Pittcon Editors last year. Alongside the GC-MS/MS is another of the Bruker quadrupole instruments, the EVOQ LC-MS/MS TQ, launched last year in Japan, but making its first appearance at Pittcon. The latest addition to the Bruker CAM family of analytical products is the recently launched aurora Elite ICP-MS, also making its first appearance at Pittcon.

The SCION, EVOQ and aurora instrument follow the long tradition of innovation and product reliability within Bruker, with a particular focus on ease of use, software enablement, sensitivity and address the need to power the business of quantitation. The advances behind the SCION TQ GC-MS, with its innovative lens-free design, curved ion pathway, space saving design and compound based scanning software (CBS), were recognized at last year’s conference, with both the Pittcon Editors’ Choice Silver Award and the Laboratory Equipment Readers’ Choice Award.

Following its release late last year, the EVOQ Elite LC-MS has also set new standards for sensitivity and performance, with a whole range of technological innovation including VIP-Heated ESI, Active Exhaust, Orifice Interface and revolutionary exception-based data review PACER software.

The newest edition to the Bruker range is the high performance aurora Elite, which has set new and exceptional standards for ICP-MS, as the most sensitive instrument available on the market at 1.5 GHz/ppm. Outstanding scan speed and 100 μs integration times deliver an unmatched performance combination, while patented turner-interlaced coils ensure robust plasma conditions for complete matrix decomposition, without the need for a plasma shield or guard electrode. The aurora Elite also meets compliance for the use in the pharmaceutical industry with full 21 CFR Part 11 compliance support, with the combination of the ICP-MS Quantum software and CompassCDS offering new features such as audit trails, electronic signatures and improved user management.

“Our product specialists have created this range of industry leading instruments through continually innovating to reflect the requirements of today and tomorrows analytical challenges and applications”, commented Rohan Thakur, Vice President of Bruker CAM. “We have delivered exceptional performance, robustness and sensitivity by addressing the essential components of our instruments and focusing on application area challenges that routine laboratories are experiencing. The markets that we serve include the food safety, environmental monitoring, water monitoring, forensic sciences, petrochemical and pharmaceutical research”.

Bruker also host their annual press conference at Pittcon, scheduled on Tuesday, March 19, where they will discuss their expanding portfolio of instruments and further advances to look forward to in the year ahead. Editors are invited to join Bruker’s Press Conference by registering online.

Another highlight of the conference will be the Pittcon Heritage Award, which this year will be awarded posthumously to Guenther Laukien, pioneer in NMR and founder of Bruker. The award will be accepted by his son, Bruker CEO Frank H. Laukien, at a reception on Sunday, March 17 at 16:30 in Ballroom B, Level 300. Collin D’Silva, President of Bruker CAM, said, “It is wonderful to have the opportunity to honor the man who not only founded Bruker, but led the company forward into new technologies and instilled the spirit of innovation with integrity, which continues to drive us today.”

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters. Explore a range of UHPLC and HPLC columns for your specific sample needs including reverse phase, normal phase, ion exchange, HILIC, ion exclusion and size exclusion columns.
