Rapid AST and sepsis management in real-world hospital settings

Tuesday , December 16, at 15:00 GMT | 16:00 CET | 10:00 EST | 7:00 PST

Rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) holds transformative potential for improving sepsis outcomes, yet its clinical adoption remains limited. This webinar brings together leading experts to explore how to bridge the gap between technological innovation and real-world adoption of rapid AST, a crucial step in improving sepsis management and patient outcomes.

Join Prof. Giuliana Lo Cascio and Prof. Holger Rohde as they discuss what it takes to move rapid AST from proof of concept to routine hospital practice, addressing the operational, technical, and collaborative challenges that still limit its widespread adoption.

Dr. Giuliana Lo Cascio, expert in clinical microbiology and hospital diagnostics, will share hands-on insights on integrating rapid AST into everyday laboratory workflows and clinical decision-making. Dr. Holger Rohde, expert in clinical microbiology, a leading researcher in diagnostic and molecular microbiology, will add an innovation-driven perspective on validation, standardization, and the clinical impact of emerging AST technologies.

Key learning objectives:

  • Understand the main operational and technical barriers that limit the adoption of rapid AST in clinical laboratories.
  • Learn how technology design can simplify workflows, improve throughput, and increase confidence in rapid results.
  • Gain insight into how collaboration between clinicians, microbiologists, and hospital management can support successful implementation.
  • Hear perspectives on the practical, organizational, and economic factors influencing the transition from innovation to routine hospital practice
  • Learn how hospitals and labs can optimize adoption now

Who should attend?

  • Clinical microbiologists and laboratory managers
  • Clinicians and antimicrobial stewardship teams
  • Hospital administrators and healthcare leaders
  • Researchers and diagnostic technology developers
