Removal of Phospholipids from Protein Precipitated Biological Fluid Samples, for LC-MS/MS Analysis

1 Oct 2018

Phospholipids (PL) are present in many biological samples, including blood and cerebral spinal fluid. However, they are notorious for co-extracting with a broad range of analytes and therefore compromising LC-MS-based analyses. They can cause ion supression, ion enhancement, and even limit the lifespan of reversed phase columns. This application note demonstrates how HybridSPE® phospholipid technology has been developed for selective and rapid PL depletion. Supel ™  Genie Online SPE cartridges are a sample preparation solution that offer a seamless workflow from start to finish performed entirely  'online' the LC instrument. Typically, an autosampler would take the samples from a collection plate or tubes, and inject them directly onto the SPE cartridge located on the analytical instrument (LC instrument). This enables an entirely hands free workflow which eliminates the risk of human error as the most critical, labor inte
