Novel Rat Models to Study Primary Genital Herpes Simplex Virus-2 Infection
30 Apr 2016A unique scientific collaboration between Envigo and the Department of Infectious Disease at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden confirms several Envigo rat models are susceptible to intra-vaginal herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2) infection, with the outcome varying between different stocks and strains. This poster describes which strain is most susceptible and best suited to future efficacy studies, presents insights into the limitations of previously used research models and demonstrates the significance of this discovery for a future HSV-2 vaccine.
