One example for an autoimmune disease is the Hughes syndrome (antiphospholipid syndrome, APS). Hughes syndrome is derived from antibodies against cell-membrane phospholipid (aPL) resulting in thrombosis and complications during pregnancy like stillbirth, pre-term delivery, miscarriage or preeclampsia.
