Hypoxic Cell Culture in the New Brunswick™ Galaxy® 170R Incubator: Normal Growth, Morphological Changes

13 Feb 2015

Brunswick Galaxy 170 series incubators have a wide array of options that allow for not only CO2 and temperature control, but also for O2 concentration control which can be used to create a hypoxic internal environment. To demonstrate the low O2 capability of this system, prostate cancer cells (LNCaP) were grown in 2 % O2 and their growth and morphology were observed. In contrast to the effects of hypoxia on normal cells, LNCaP cells were able to grow normally and displayed morphological changes.
