High recoveries from IEX analysis of mAbs

22 May 2024

Ion exchange chromatography (IEX) is commonly used to characterize charge-sensitive biomolecules like monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). While PEEK is typically used for column hardware, bioinert coated stainless steel offers an alternative with different surface properties, being less hydrophobic. YMC Europe highlights this distinction through the analysis of bevacizumab, where both a standard PEEK column and a bioinert coated YMC Accura BioPro IEX SF column were tested. Consecutive injections of bevacizumab showed that preconditioning is generally necessary for complete recovery on both columns.
