Good Practices in Using a Water Purification System and Handling High Purity Water

13 Jun 2011

In this application poster, a number of “good laboratory practices” for working with high purity water are described. The importance of rinsing newly installed RO cartridges is analysed by measuring TOC levels in a water sample. Reservoir material for longer-term water storage, regular monitoring of water quality (as assessed by TOC and conductivity) and flushing the water system are also discussed as part of good lab practice.

Water PurificationThere are a number of water purification methods available to remove contamination from laboratory water. These systems include demineralization, reverse osmosis, filtration and ultrafiltration. A combination of methods is sometimes necessary to achieve purified water suitable for use in experiments.
