Evaluation of a New Kit for the Identification of Partial RhD Types by Haemagglutination

15 Feb 2012

Discrepant results in routine RhD typing may be due to weak D or partial D phenotypes. Laboratories need to analyze these samples to assess their clinical significance with respect to HDFN, transfusion, or administering prophylactic anti-D. This poster from Alba Biosciences documents the evaluation of their Partial D typing kit.

ALBAclone Advanced Partial RhD Typing Kit

Alba Bioscience

For several years Alba Bioscience has been recognised as the premier manufacturer of kits to assist in the identification of weak and partial RhD types. This kit comprises of twelve well characterised antibodies from different monoclonal anti-D cell lines. The antibodies incorporated into this kit have undergone extensive evaluation at international workshops and by experts throughout Europe and the US. This new kit allows improved identification of newly identified partial RhD types, including DMH, DOL, etc and generally gives comparable results to molecular analysis. The ALBAclone® Advanced Partial RhD Typing Kit may be used to differentiate partial RhD types, and weak D of types 1 and 2. The use of a kit for determination of partial RhD types is recommended in the current version of the Guidelines for the Blood Transfusion Services in the United Kingdom.
