Automated fluorescence cell counting with the LUNA-FL Dual Fluorescence Cell Counter

28 May 2026

This application note introduces fluorescence-based cell counting using the LUNA‑FL™ Dual Fluorescence Cell Counter. By combining nucleic acid dyes such as acridine orange and propidium iodide, the workflow enables accurate discrimination between live and dead cells while minimizing interference from debris or contaminating cell types. The approach improves counting accuracy for challenging samples such as peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and whole blood, where brightfield methods may be insufficient.
