"This is as expected a high specification German engineered piece of equipment. It is not the cheapest cooled incubator, but you pay for what you get. The controls are reasonably intuitive but could be made a little easier. The instructions explain well what you cannot figure out yourself. The Peltier cooling makes it very cheap to run and also very quiet. On both counts far better than competitors so initial outlay may well be offset by running costs. We have had several of these machines and they have all proved very reliable and very accurate. They can be set to 0.1c and any drift during operation is minor tending to be well within +/- 0.5c. They have two fans so temperature distribution during running is very even. The two fans also help in use as one can fail and it will still operate satisfactorily. Spare replacement fans are easily fitted and are not normally necessary for many years use. They are also not especially expensive. I am glad to say the newer models have a better door lock than previous Memmert Incubators which were overly complex and probably the least reliable component. The programming is a little bit time consuming but once set up it performs well and can ramp through different temperatures including down to refrigeration temperatures. Good support from supplier. In summary good solid engineering capable of giving many years of trouble free use to fairly tight tolerances."
