Multivapor™ P-6 / P-12
Highly efficient rotary evaporation of multiple samples
Great and helpful instrument despite being expensive. No way back to rotary vaps.
Volume reduction of multiple samples at once during biomarker analyses
Very high throughput as multiple samples can be evaporated at once in comparison to classical rotary evaporators. Easy to use system. However, one should be aware of potential (cross-) contaminations if the system is not properly maintained and misused (e.g. wrong under-pressure, strongly different samples). Other than that, we have used the instrument for 2.5 years and have had only minor issues, some of them even being covered and solved during the guarantee (defective heater). Depending on the application, one might also exchange the delivered Norprene tubing for PTFE tubing between the cooler and vacuum pump to minimize risks of contamination. Although quite expensive, it pays off after a short period of time, wastes less lab space (think about 4-6 rotary evaporators to achieve the same throughput) and with the right periphery (appropriate cooler and vacuum controller) it is very effective! We might buy a second one to avoid switching between different settings for different applications and to increase the throughput even more!
