Embryo culture
This device is so easy to use that everyone in the lab wants to put it in their incubator! We have diverted the common use to follow the development of bovine embryos in vitro. This allows us to detect cell divisions without having to take the culture dishes out of the incubator, which is an advantage for embryo survival.

A great product for great results.
Observing cell growth and cytopathic effects caused by virus in Vero and BHK cells
The quality of results are high and makes it easy to distinguish between different cell lines as well as the difference in cell growth over time. It is very easy to use and I find the fact that you can change the settings according to your specific experiment, very useful. The only drawback is that the experiment has to be stopped each time you want to exit the screen. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product.

This instrument is really worth investing in especially when used in a BSL facility where it's painful to enter and exit each time. There are a lot of benefits to using this for remote monitoring of cells or virus culture and the software is easy to use and customer service is fantastic. I have recommended it to my my PI for BSL1 lab also. Functions for morphology, migration, cytotoxicity, proliferation and more. This live cell microscope creates images and videos that contain many cellular features, which can be extracted using image analysis tools and this instrument really is fantastic for your work. Makes life so easy and gives reproducible results. We can also use it to monitor cellular behavior over time and investigate how cells respond and interact with their environment.

The CytoSMART Lux2 is a great tool. Very user friendly from start to finish. I have used it many times to monitor cell growth patterns and morphology, as well as treatment efficacy. I have been able to create many high quality time-lapsed videos of cells in culture. The CytoSMART Lux2 captures the confluence over time and this has been a very helpful tool for future use in the lab. I look forward to using this tool more in the future.

Not suitable for real experiments (cant test a control in the same conditions).
Proliferation and migration assays of cancer cells under different conditions
Pros: The device is small and elegant, the software and the user experience is easy and flows very well. The online possibility to view your experiment real-time is helpful and fun. Cons: The biggest problem is that you can only image one location. That means there's not even an option for comparing control vs. experiment. It's hard to locate and image a certain location in a flask/dish, for wound-healing assay for example, since you need to carefully move it by hand, while watching the screen. Even after locating, it's very fragile, so you have to be careful not to slam the incubator's door. A bit too expensive for a single-location viewing device.

Great device for remote work and time lapse cell imaging.
Assess morphological changes and cell growth after application of complementary/alternative medicine
The CytoSmart Lux2 has been very useful for watching morphological changes in response to differentiation agents or treatments. It has also been very useful to remotely check in on cell health and growth during the CoVID-19 pandemic. The device is incredibly easy to use and has improved the abilities of our lab. I have found the confluence measurements to be way off, however. This may be an issue with the software. Overall, I think this is a great addition to any lab that does cell culture work. I would highly recommend the device.

It is a must item for cell biology. But it's a little too expensive for personal use.
Cell proliferation and migration
We can easily obtain high quality data. In some plastic culture wares, we have faced a problem of condensation on the upper shield. It distorts images and the quantitative data. The data deposit system was improved to be user-friendly. Another problem would be the cost-performance ratio.

Very good instrument for long term imaging.
Long term live imaging
Very easy product to use, basically plug it in and it works. Love that it can be used inside an incubator as I had trouble with long term imaging with on stage incubators for big microscopes. Also, don't need to worry about fluctuations in temperature and oxygen percentages and deal with oxygen tanks. I would like there to be different magnifications and possibly brightfield, but it isn't essential.
