I am feeling positive about using these plates for my future experiments.
Rating: 4.3

  • Application Area: Multicellular 3D spheroids followed by FFPE for IHC based study

"1. Easy to use. 2. I could grow my 3D spheroids for 25 days and expect it to maintain the spheroids for 15 more days. 3. My downstream application was to prepare FFPE followed by IHC study. For that, I succeeded in preparing FFPE blocks, H&E and doing IHC of some target proteins. I could see uniform-sized spheroids using these plates. The integrity of the spheroids remains mostly intact after so many stages (e.g. parformaldehyde fixing, low melting agarose embedding, FFPE block preparation, sectioning. For H&E its a few steps but for IHC there are multiple steps of washing and most of the spheroid's structure i.e. round shape still remained intact, so that is a plus). 4. My only concern is value for money. I have used other commercially available plates, although none of them can produce equal-sized spheroids, but to be honest they are not bad. I can conclude any advantage or disadvantage of equal-sized spheroids once I do the hypoxic marker(s) staining."

The only plates with a simple “plug and play” protocol for scaffold-free, self-assembly spheroid formation at large volumes.

Novel well geometry and surface coatings, including Corning Ultra Low Attachment (ULA) featured on the round bottom plates. Corning ULA surface is hydrophilic, biologically inert and non-degradable, which promotes highly reproducible spheroid formation and easy harvesting.

Corning Elplasia round bottom plates optimal for bulk spheroid formation, collection and expansion. Round bottom plates feature Corning Ultra-Low Attachment surface and are available in 6-, 24- and 96-well formats.

•Spheroids may be formed and cultured for 21 or more days
•Can produce between 79 – 15,000+ spheroids per well, depending on plate format, under one culture condition
•The high volume of spheroids generated in each well increase signals per well without increasing spheroid size
•Black opaque sidewalls to reduce well-to-well “cross-talk”
•Well suited for fluorescent/luminescent assays
•Available in multiple formats, two well geometries and surface coating options.
