This assay gives a rapid replacement for stool cultures and parasites and viruses often found by slower conventional methods. Example: An Ova and Parasite was ordered on a patient, and a tech ran the GI panel out of habit by mistake. The panel was positive for Giardia and Shigella. The physician was contacted and urged to order the GI PCR Panel. So much time was saved for patient diagnosis and care.

The BioFire is definitely easy to use, quick and accurate with it's results. The company also reimburses you if you have pouches that are defective, and for any pouch you use for validation of a new module. They company has been easy to work with, friendly and helpful.

A great, easy to use product for our patients with an exceptional support team
We are running the Stool Pathogen Panel on the TORCH Filmarray
We originally trained 2 people to run the TORCH FilmArray for stool specimens, and have since trained 4 more. The training we initially received was exceptional and thorough with our rep. She left us additional forms for training checkoff, which made it very easy to train others. We have called our rep with questions and they have always been answered promptly and completely. Ordering new kits is now easier than ever through the website, and they arrive within 1-2 days. The manual provided is easy to follow and covers everything. Can't say enough about the customer service. It has been a great experience with BioMerieux.

I love this molecular assay because of less steps involved in preparation of sample.
RP 2.1 panel for Respiratory, ME Panel for CSF and BCID2 panel for positive Blood CX.
Positive part for this instrument is doesn't matter what panel you are using procedure is similar, Less prep time for the test setup. Very good turn around time. Easy to train. No hassle if you are adding on more assays. Very good customer service and always willing to help bring new assays on board for better patient outcome. Negative part is it is very expensive.

We have been using the FilmArray BioFire for many years now. We use the BCID (now BCID-2.0) Bld cx system, Respiratory panel, PNA/Lower Respiratory panel. We quickly went form a single unit to needing the Torch to enhance throughput. First noticed benefit was dramatically decreased IV vanco use due to skin contaminants, as we can see an organism level result in about 1 hr (Coag Neg Staph) and avoid the 48h of IV vanco we used to need awaiting the results to rule out things like MRSA which are now done before the vanco is initiated. Many many results beyond recognition when we installed. Lead to dec abx use, dec LOS, and dec sepsis mortality. Great product. Thank you BioMerieux!

Blood culture identification
I have to be honest we were not happy to add more work to our small generalist lab. However, after we went live we are so impressed with the ease of use and the accuracy of the Biofire Torch. Service has been excellent along with our sales representative. Maintenance is minimal which is definitely a plus. I would recommend it to any lab of any size.
