D‑Pantethine is the biologically active disulfide form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and a key precursor in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA). It plays an essential role in cellular energy metabolism, fatty acid synthesis and oxidation, and the production of acetylcholine and other important biomolecules. As a precursor of CoA, D‑Pantethine supports numerous enzymatic reactions involved in the tricarboxylic acid cycle and lipid metabolism.
D‑Pantethine has been used in cell culture applications to support metabolic activity and CoA‑dependent pathways.
It has been employed in studies investigating lipid metabolism, cholesterol regulation, and mitochondrial function.
It has been used in biochemical assays to evaluate enzyme activities related to coenzyme A biosynthesis and utilization.
