Thermo Scientific™ Matrix™ ScrewTop Tri-coded Tubes
Securely store precious samples at low temperatures, including vapor phase Liquid Nitrogen with Thermo Scientific™ Matrix™ 500μl and 1.0mL ScrewTop Tubes.
Tubes are molded from medical grade resins and feature a permanent, high contrast 2D,1D linear and human readable barcode. These tubes can be ordered to come in racks (barcoded or non-barcoded) or may be purchased in bulk. The tri-coded tubes can be purchased sterile or non-sterile. We also offer tubes with white patch only if your work does not require the 1D linear and human readable code. The 2D screwtop tubes meet a range of manual and automated long term storage needs; barcoded racks make it easy to track the rack as well. Use in combination with Thermo Scientific barcode readers, arrayers and capping equipment.
Features:
- Dependable Sample Protection
- Tubes are constructed of virgin class VI medical grade polypropylene
- Screw-top caps feature a soft silicone gasket that conforms to mating surfaces to ensure sample preservation
- Racks are constructed of sturdy acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) to protect tubes in case of accidental dropping
- Screw-top tubes are compatible with storage down to -176°C
- Secure Tracking
- Permanent, unique 2D barcode is laser-etched on the bottom of each tube
- 2D barcode allows you to scan and decode tubes at once without removing them from the rack, and allows data to be associated with each tube
- Compatible with our range of VisionMate readers
- Superior Storage Format
- ANSI-format latch racks maximize storage space and are compatible with multichannel manual pipettes or automated liquid handling equipment
- Several capping/decapping options available to manipulate a single tube, 8 tubes, or 96 tubes at a time
- Stringent Quality Control
- Every 2D barcode is scanned for readability
- Every 2D barcode is checked against the database of all previous Thermo Scientific 2D barcodes to ensure there are zero duplicates
- Each tube is leak tested to ensure tube integrity and sample security
- All sterile tubes are supplied free from DNA, RNase, DNase, PCR Inhibitors, endotoxins and cytotoxins
- All non-sterile tubes are supplied free of RNase, DNase and endotoxins
How to successfully operate a reliable and high-quality specimen biobank
Biobanks are the backbone of modern clinical and basic research, providing the long-term storage and accessibility of human biospecimens required to unlock a deeper understanding of complex diseases. However, the value of a biobank is only as high as the quality of its samples. To transform raw specimens into actionable data, laboratories must implement rigorous design standards that prioritize sample integrity, security, and traceability.
This SelectScience eBook, produced in partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in laboratory equipment and life sciences solutions, offers a comprehensive guide to operating a high-performance biobanking facility. From navigating the complexities of cryopreservation to meeting modern sustainability goals, this resource provides the technical framework needed to produce reliable, high-quality research outcomes.
Inside this guide, you will explore:
- Industry-standard best practices for sample preparation, high-density storage, and precision tracking.
- Actionable advice on reducing the carbon footprint of cold storage without compromising specimen safety.
- Expert tips on selecting the right equipment to maintain stable, long-term environments for sensitive biospecimens.
- How to meet the rising demands for data transparency and chain-of-custody in modern biorepositories.
- Navigating the regulatory and ethical landscape of human specimen handling.
Whether you are designing a new facility from the ground up or refining your existing protocols, this eBook delivers the tools to help your biobank thrive in a competitive research landscape.
Download the resource now to ensure your biobank is a strategic asset for the future of medicine.
