The Multisizer 4e, the latest COULTER COUNTER designed with the SMART and DPP technologies, offers highly accurate and reliable particle counting and sizing. Discover the most versatile and accurate particle sizing and counting analyzer on the market.

Using the Coulter Principle, also known as Electrical Sensing Zone (ESZ), the Multisizer 4e COULTER COUNTER® provides size distributions in number, volume and surface area in one measurement, with an overall sizing range of 0.4 µm to 1600 µm.

While retaining and enhancing the analog circuits developed and refined by Coulter over many years - and the Digital Pulse Processor (DPP) - the new Multisizer 4e incorporates the latest advances in both analog and digital circuits. High-speed digitalization of the signal enables the use of multiple parameters for more accurate particle characterization. Plus the possibility of dynamic size measurement is a reality on the Multisizer 4e.

Multisizer 4e Coulter Counter Features:

  • Increased dynamic range
  • Increased resolution
  • Proven technology
  • Superior instrument design
  • Quality assurance friendly
  • Digital Pulse Processor (DPP)
  • Dynamic size measurements
  • Provides number, volume, mass and surface area size distributions in one measurement
V-Check (IQ, OQ, PQ) instrument validation

Monitor E. coli cultures with the BioLector and Multisizer 4e

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a facultative anaerobic bacterium, easily cultured in labs, making it a key model organism in genetics, microbiology, and biotechnology. It is commonly used for large-scale production of therapeutic proteins, with 30% of approved therapeutic proteins produced using E. coli. Beckman Coulter Life Sciences demonstrates the use of the BioLector microbioreactor and the Multisizer 4e Coulter Counter to optimize E. coli culture conditions and characterize cell growth. The BioLector is small-scale, automated system that enables high-throughput screening, cultivation parameter monitoring and feeding strategy optimization. The Multisizer 4e is an accurate and flexible particle characterization device with a sizing range of 0.2–1600 μm. Generated data are processed using patented digital pulse processing technology and can be saved and later re-analyzed.
