TEST PRESENTATION

HYDRAGEL von WILLEBRAND MULTIMERS kit is designed for the detection of abnormalities in the VWF multimers distribution related to a hemorrhagic diathesis. The test allows to assess the overall size distribution of von Willebrand factor multimers in human plasma using agarose gel electrophoresis and immunofixation, with the semi-automated the HYDRASYS 2 instrument. HYDRAGEL von WILLEBRAND MULTIMERS assay provides within-day results, thanks to its simplified procedure, reduced hands-on time, ready-to-use reagents, and clear and reproducible profiles.

TEST PRINCIPLE

HYDRAGEL von WILLEBRAND MULTIMERS allows separating small, intermediate and large multimers. The assay is carried out in two stages:

Sample pre-treatment followed by an electrophoresis done in SDS agarose gel to separate proteins according to their molecular weight.

Direct immunofixation of multimers in the gel using anti-human VWF antibody followed by immuno-enzyme staining to visualize the different Multimers.

The semi-automated HYDRASYS 2 instrument performs all the steps needed to obtain gels ready for visual and densitometry-based interpretations.
