Zone-Free is a multilayer film with pierceable, adhesive-free zones to help minimize potential contact between samples and adhesive.

X-Pierce film is designed for resealability and easy access without pipet tip coring or adhesive fouling.

The encapsulated silicone adhesive is non-tacky until pressed against the sealing surface, at which time adhesive is released only in sealing areas to form the strongest available heat-resistant seal around each well on the plate. Adhesive on non-sealing areas of the film, such as directly over sample wells, remains encapsulated and inert. Excel ThermalSeal RTS films are sized to fit within the edges of raised-rim 96-well plates. Their consistent high optical clarity makes possible reproducible, reliable, and consistent DNA amplification measurements and crystal detection. Two end tabs assist in positioning the film on the plate, and the non-tacky adhesive surface simplifies handling. Easy removal of the end tabs at perforated boundaries prevents lifting and higher evaporation rates that can occur with films that overlap the plate rim. Dimensions 78.6 by 139.7 mm. X-PierceTM sealing films are 89 µm thick vinyl with a 18 µm thick adhesive layer, designed for temporary protection from contamination and evaporation for samples in 96-well plates. A precut "X" over each well creates four flaps that easily bend downward when pushed by a robotic probe or pipet tip, allowing sample access without coring or adhesive fouling. A thin adhesive layer and special hairline cuts separating the X-Pierce flaps combine to prevent probes from contacting adhesive and becoming occluded. The flaps return to their original position after sampling for continued protection. For long-term sample protection after sampling, a continuous sealing film should be applied as a second layer. A 48 um soft non-permeable aluminum foil sealing film with 30 um layer of strong acrylic adhesive. FoilSealTM sealing foils remove cleanly from plate surfaces with no adhesive stringing, residue or contamination. Each sealing foil measures 78.3 x 129 mm and offers sufficient sealing area for all plate types (e.g. flat top and raised-rim). SealPlate® 50 µm thickness polyester sealing films minimize evaporation, prevent spillage and contamination between wells, and provide a secure seal, not just a cover. Secure sealing of all wells eliminates "edge effects" in sensitive ELISA assays. SealPlate sealing films can also be used with tissue-culture plates for short-term storage, incubation, and containment of biohazards. SealPlate sealing films are non-pierceable.
