Double Pt-foil SGJ electrode is excellent as a counter electrode in OER/WOC experiments. Use of Pt foil as a working electrode for mechanistic OER studies or to benchmark other catalysts. Key limitations & risks: Catalytic side reactions & product selectivity: Pt can catalyze peroxide formation or other oxidation pathways during water oxidation, which complicates interpretation . Bubble management & mass transport: Large planar foils can trap O₂ bubbles on the surface, producing apparent noise and changing local concentration/pH.
