Industry News: Preclinical Multi-Mode MRI Imaging Solutions on Tour From Liverpool to Philly

04 Oct 2017

MR Solutions took their ground breaking, cryogen-free pre-clinical multi-modality MRI imaging solutions on tour in September 2017. The company had exhibits at the 23rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Chapter of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (11-13 September), and the British Nuclear Medicine Society’s autumn meeting (15 September) - both held in Liverpool. On the other side of the world, MR Solutions exhibited at the World Molecular Imaging Congress 2017 in Philadelphia (13-16 September).

Dr. David Taylor, CEO of MR Solutions commented: “We were delighted at the reception we received at all these exhibitions and the acceptance of this new technology which provides better imaging solutions for research at a lower cost.”

MR Solutions, which is based in Guildford, UK, is a leading independent developer and manufacturer of pre-clinical multi-modality MRI technology and remains the only company to deliver a commercial cryogen-free 3T to 9.4T range of pre-clinical bench top MRI scanners. In recognition of the company’s innovation and business acumen the company received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise twice – for innovation in 2016 and for international trade in 2017.

Multi-modality imaging can provide researchers with one or more imaging techniques in parallel or in series for superior, quicker imaging results. To provide the SPECT images, MR Solutions has devised a system where the four gamma camera heads and focusing collimator can be easily clipped on to the front of the bore of the MRI scanner to provide state of the art 3D SPECT images. The SPECT images can be registered with the MRI images providing anatomical-functional combined capability. The SPECT gamma camera can also be used independently.

The PET capability is provided by solid state detectors which are incorporated in the bore of the MRI scanner. The scanner combines the exquisite structural and functional characterization of tissue provided by MRI with the extreme sensitivity of PET imaging for metabolism and tracking of uniquely labelled cell types or cell receptors. This is particularly useful in oncology, cardiology, and neurology research.

MR Solutions’ range of cryogen free, compact MRI scanners with 17 and 24 cm bores has become a complete game changer in the field of pre-clinical scanning. The technology not only provides superior soft tissue contrast and high spatial resolution, a vastly reduced stray magnetic field and all the benefits that brings but also allows the magnetic field strength to be easily varied.

MR Solutions has over 30 years’ experience and in excess of 2000 installations across the world. This includes sales of their MRI spectrometers. Its scanners are renowned for their excellence in terms of superior soft tissue contrast and molecular imaging ability.
