Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has introduced the Thermo Scientific HyperSep™ SLE chromatographic sample preparation option for processing and simplifying extraction of samples from complex biological matrices. The new sample preparation format offers a fast, effective method to reduce sample background and concentrate the desired analytes.

The HyperSep™ SLE technology gives greater reproducibility and reliability in sample preparation compared to Liquid/Liquid Extraction (LLE) and unlike protein precipitation techniques it removes contaminants such as phospholipids. The solid supported liquid/liquid extraction (SLE) solution offered by HyperSep™ SLE also provides a platform for greater automation and analyte purity it also reduces solvent requirements and can prevent complications such as emulsification of the separate phases.

Biological samples are frequently in the form of complex liquids that contain a wide variety of compounds and chemistries. Reducing the complexity of the sample matrix significantly diminishes background interference, and increases the sensitivity of the separations technique. With a treated diatomaceous earth stationary phase, and formats to handle a number of sample volumes, the HyperSep™ SLE range provides optimized solutions for sample extraction from biological matrices.

Thermo Scientific HyperSep Retain Polymeric SPE

Thermo Fisher Scientific

Versatile polymeric material for retention of polar and non-polar analytes • Exceptional recoveries for polar and non-polar analytes • High and consistent recoveries • High capacity material • Fast and easy sample preparation method development • pH stable 0-14 HyperSep Retain PEP (polar enhanced polymer) is a high purity, highly porous polystyrene DVB material modified with urea functional groups to give balanced retention of polar and non-polar analytes. The problems associated with column drying in traditional silica-based SPE materials are eliminated when using this product. This material is ideal for the retention of neutral compounds, or mixtures of compounds of different functionalities. Applications Drugs and metabolites in biological fluids Peptides in serum, plasma or biological fluids
