The Precellys® range developed by Bertin Technologies is an efficient tissue homogenizer and cell lyser that helps to optimize the sample preparation prior to DNA, proteins and drugs extractions in forensic investigations. The system enables efficient bead-beating samples preparation in 0,5mL, 2mL and 7mL in few seconds in a temperature-controlled environment.

Powerful 8-figure motion is able to grind soft to hard samples like animal and human tissues, hair, bones and much more. The system can be operated in multiple configurations in the same build-in tube holder: 0,5mL, 2mL, 7mL, with or without Cryolys cooling option. Fully optimized for Precellys®24, 15 references of lysing kits (tubes prefilled with beads) are available to extract full length DNA and native state proteins out of any samples.

In order to analyze drugs in human hair, the National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology of Korea successfully reduced hair sample in powder form prior to HPLC MS/MS analysis. In another investigation carried out by the Institute of Criminalistics of Parana in Brazil, Precellys® was used to identify human DNA from bone fragments. This new method was proved to be faster, more reliable and economical, enabling conclusive results on DNA extraction and purification.
