Release 4.0.3 of LabLogic Systems' Laura data management program includes an interface for controlling the Acquity UltraPerformance LC system from Waters Corporation.

The two companies have been working on the interface since signing a collaboration agreement earlier this year, and have released it in accordance with their announcement at that time that it would be available during the third quarter.

The collaboration has enhanced the compatibility of the two products, making them more efficient and easier for life scientists to use when carrying out on-line radiochromatographic detection. Users of the Waters Acquity system will already be familiar with the interface as the Laura software uses the Acquity console.

Further development to control the Waters Alliance HPLC systems is in progress, with a planned release by the end of the year.

Integration with the Waters systems has further enhanced Laura's connectivity, which already includes controls for more than 130 HPLC and liquid handling modules, and confirmed its status as the industry standard for data collection and analysis.

UHPLC and HPLCHigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), also known as UPLC, are analytical techniques used to separate, identify and quantitate components of complex mixtures including biological samples such as proteins and lipids as well as chemical mixtures of pesticides, drugs and oils. Both techniques are liquid chromatographic methods but differ by operating pressures (HPLC < 6000 psi < UHPLC ). Components of HPLC and UHPLC systems include columns, detectors, pumps, autosamplers and column heaters.
