Product news

GE Healthcare has introduced Mammalian Protein Extraction Buffer and Yeast Protein Extraction Buffer Kit, for efficient high quality extraction of soluble protein from mammalian cultured cells and yeast cell respectively.

The Mammalian Protein Extraction Buffer and Yeast Extraction Buffer Kit are mild, non-denaturing buffer compositions, delivering high quality protein lysate compatible with most downstream applications without the need for mechanical cell lysis. Both products give highly reproducible, consistent results with maintained biological activity and address the need for simple and versatile sample preparation methods for protein extraction.

Mammalian Protein Extraction Buffer is a 500ml solution designed for extraction of total soluble proteins from mammalian cultured cells. The buffer can be used for both cell suspensions and adherent cells. The buffer is compatible with most downstream applications, including chromatography, electrophoresis, enzyme assays, kinase assays and immunoassays.

The Yeast Protein Extraction Buffer Kit is designed for extraction of soluble proteins from yeast cells, and is suitable for preparation of approximately 10ml yeast cell pellet suspension, either as a single preparation or as multiple, smaller preps. The kit eliminates the need for glass beads, and is a proprietary improvement on the Zymolyase™-based method for spheroplast preparation and extraction of soluble proteins from yeast cells. The buffer kit is compatible with any downstream application, including enzyme assays, chromatography and gel electrophoresis.

The purification process typically involves subcellular or membrane protein extraction with cell lysis kits, separation of proteins from cell debris by filtration or spin columns, and the isolation of proteins of interest from other proteins and impurities with affinity purification (including fusion protein tags and antibody binding proteins A, G and L), immunoprecipitation or chromatographic methods, such as ion exchange, size exclusion and immobilized metal affinity chromatography. All purification methods come in multiple formats for your laboratory needs, including agarose or magnetic beads, resins, columns and filter plates.
