Beckman Coulter Diagnostics has launched the DxU 1800 System, a fully automated urinalysis solution that combines a new urine chemistry analyzer and consumables with proven microscopy technology. Introduced at the 2026 Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo, the DxU 1800 System is designed to help hospital laboratories, core labs and reference laboratories standardize urinalysis, manage rising testing volumes and support confident clinical decision-making.

Integrated DxU 1800 System for automated urinalysis

As part of Beckman Coulter Diagnostics’ connected ecosystem, the DxU 1800 System combines the new DxU 1800c Chemistry analyzer with a DxU Iris Microscopy analyzer to create a fully automated, integrated urinalysis platform. The system unifies chemical analysis and particle imaging within a single high-throughput solution, helping laboratories scale operations with greater consistency and control.

The integrated platform streamlines end-to-end urinalysis by reducing manual handoffs and enabling more standardized workflows across chemistry and microscopy. By automating and connecting these processes, the DxU 1800 System leverages the DxU Iris automated urinalysis solution to reduce manual microscopic review rates to less than 3%, helping laboratories improve throughput, reduce variability and redeploy staff to higher-value tasks.

DxU 1800c Chemistry analyzer performance and capacity

As a standalone analyzer, the DxU 1800c Chemistry analyzer can process up to 300 samples per hour, supporting high-volume urinalysis environments. The system offers expansive result storage capacity of up to 2,000,000 samples and 100,000 strip images, with onscreen strip image display for straightforward review.

An expanded chemistry menu is planned to include creatinine and microalbumin assays, which may provide additional kidney function insight as part of routine screening without requiring changes to existing laboratory workflows. This planned menu expansion is intended to support laboratories in enhancing kidney disease assessment and monitoring within existing urinalysis processes.
