Application Note: MS Compatibility of SuperBlue Ultra™ Coomassie Stain

Protea’s SuperBlue Ultra Coomassie Stain offers superb visualization without sacrificing your downstream mass spec sensitivity. The following experiment determines peptide recovery scores from various samples using SuperBlue Ultra, Coomassie G250 stain, and silver stain SDS-PAGE gels. Improving stain sensitivity often impairs mass spec data due to harsh staining conditions; however, SuperBlue Ultra Coomassie Stain offers low detection limits of 4 ng without reducing protein scores.
