The CD1a (HI149) antibody recognizes a 49-kDa polypeptide associated with β2-microglobulin (β2m) expressed on cortical thymocytes (strongly), Langerhans cells, dendritic cells, some T cell leukemias and lymphomas. The antibody does not react with peripheral blood T and B lymphocytes, monocytes, granulocytes, platelets and erythrocytes. The CD1a antigen is involved in the presentation of lipid antigens.
