Annexin V, also called placental anticoagulant protein I (PAP-I), is an anticoagulant protein that acts as an indirect inhibitor of the thromboplastin-specific complex, which is involved in the blood coagulation cascade. Annexin V has a very high affinity for membranes containing the negatively charged phospholipid phosphatidylserine.
