HPTLC fingerprint of Edelweiss plants and extracts used as ingredients in cosmeceuticals
5 Mar 2024CAMAG discusses a method for identifying phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and caffeoyl esters present in various Edelweiss species, as well as their dry powdered or glycerin extracts used in cosmetic formulations. The HPTLC method presented in the note uses a set of standards of caffeoyl esters (3,5-dicaffeoyl quinic acid, leontopodic acids A and B) to identify Leontopodium spp. and differentiate different sources and grades of cosmetic ingredients and finished products.
